How To Make Ice Cream In A Bag

One of my favorite ways to celebrate Summer with my girls is to make our own ice cream! It's easier than you think, and you definitely don't need an ice cream machine for this recipe.

The only thing you might not have on hand already is the ice cream salt (rock salt), but it's easily available at the grocery store! I was able to grab mine at Walmart.

Ingredients: 

1 Gallon sized Ziploc Bag

1 Quart sized Ziploc Bag

1 Cup Whole Milk

2 Tablespoons Sugar

1/2 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract

1/2 Cup Ice Cream Salt

4 Cups of Ice 

 

Instructions: 

In your quart sized Ziploc bag add the milk, sugar and vanilla.

Close the bag and make sure to squeeze out any excess air before sealing it shut.

Next, add the ice cream salt and ice into the larger Ziploc bag.

Add the the quart sized Ziploc into the larger gallon sized bag and seal it up. 

Now for the fun part, shake the bags! You need to shake the bags for at least 7-10 minutes until the ice cream has come together. We took this outside because the condensation gets pretty heavy 😅. 

Don't forget to add any toppings you might want, we always go with rainbow sprinkles 🌈

This recipe is so much fun and it REALLY impresses the kids!! I will also say, the ice cream is delicious... it's just as good as any vanilla ice cream you pick up from the store.
